Helen Ward is a clinical academic and Professor of Public Health based in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. Her main research is into the epidemiology and control of sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and she was previously editor of the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections. She also works as a Consultant in Public Health at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

She is Director of the Imperial Patient Experience Research Centre (PERC), leading on patient and public involvement and engagement for the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre and the College. PERC carries out social research on health and healthcare, with a focus on participatory methods.  

Helen is the UK-Ireland academic representative on the European Supervisory Board for EIT-Health, a major partnership of 140 universities, public bodies and businesses promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in healthy living and active ageing across Europe.
